Dec 10, near the historical monument “Monument des Fraternisations” (Monument to fraternization) in Neuville-Saint-Vaast in Northern France opened a new access point in the framework of the “Timescope”. It involves the creation of zones of virtual reality close to real historically important places that tourists could be visually transported into a different era.

Currently in France installed 15 access points. Their rate of occurrence does not depend on technology or investment, and the work of artists and designers. They create on the basis of archival images, maps and descriptions of realistic three-dimensional model of the places and events with which they become known. After all, as they say, better to see once than hear a hundred times about how in the winter of 1915, German and French soldiers declared a spontaneous short truce in honor of Christmas.

Users stand virtual reality can visit virtual locations by analogy with the overview of the surroundings with binoculars fixed on the skyscrapers. The Desk is made in anti-vandal format and protected from the weather. Notably, in addition to excursions into the past the authors of the project already create a virtual travel in the future.

Full Timescope technology can be assessed during the CES in Las Vegas early next year. It is expected that by the end of 2018 the world will see at least 100 such hotspots near popular tourist sites.
