Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah and Eid al-Adha: Zelensky instructed the Cabinet to determine the status of religious holidays

KIEV. July 30. UNN. The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to study the issue of granting of the state status of certain religious holidays, particularly Ramadan Bayram, Kurban Bayram, Passover, Rosh ha-Shana, Hanukkah, Easter, Christians of the Western rite, and others. It is reported by UNN citing the press service of the President’s Office.
“President Vladimir Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to study the issue of granting of the state status of certain religious holidays, in particular: Ramazan Bayram, Eid al-Adha, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Easter Christians of the Western rite, and others. The corresponding decree № 303/2020 the Head of state signed July 30, 2020”, – stated in the message.
As noted in the document, such a proposal is made for the purpose of ensuring the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, implementing equal rights and opportunities of all believers, honoring the history, culture, and traditions of the Ukrainian society as a multinational and multi-confessional.
“According to the decree, the government should study this issue and to develop proposals for cooperation with all-Ukrainian Council of churches and religious organizations and the Ukrainian Institute of national memory, and then to submit for consideration of Verkhovna Rada the bill. The decree comes into force from the day of its publication,” – said the press service.
We will remind, the authorities of Uman pointed out that the traditional pilgrimage to the city of chasidim on Rosh Hashanah this year.
