GPU is preparing a petition to change the measure of restraint Guzhva

The Prosecutor’s office is preparing a petition to the court on the application of a more stringent measure for the main editor Stranaya Igor Guzhva, who yesterday moved from Ukraine to Austria, where he asks for political asylum. About it reports a press-service GPU.

Also, the Prosecutor will ask the court to withhold bail of 1 million UAH which Guzhva introduced as a suspect in tax evasion when he worked as a chief editor of the newspaper Vesti.

According to authorities, in December 2017, the Prosecutor’s office appealed to the court for extension of a preventive measure (obligation not to serve outside of Kiev), but Guzhva, “abusing existing procedural rights by providing the court session medical certificates about state of health and inability to appear in court on this basis, restricted the right of the court on the motions of the public Prosecutor about election concerning accused of additional measures”.

“Based on the foregoing and given that the Director of “News Media” deliberately delayed the submission to the court criminal proceedings against him, the Prosecutor prepares the petition in court about the handling of the bail into the revenue of the state and to change the measure of restraint to a strict,” – said in the message.

Informed the journalists Stranaya published an appeal in which announced the departure of Guzhva and said that he left Ukraine after expiry of a preventive measure.
