Gerashchenko: the Tactic of “closed eyes” harms the OSCE in the Donbass

In the Donbass tactics “closed eyes” harm the special observers monitoring mission of the OSCE. About this in Facebook said the first Deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s representative to the Humanities subgroup of the trilateral contact group Irina Gerashchenko, commenting on the speech of the Secretary General of the OSCE Thomas Greminger at the Warsaw security forum, where he used the phrase “Ukrainian crisis”.

“Of course, the OSCE is a neutral, apolitical, but sometimes the absurdity of the recognition of the obvious things in favor of one of the OSCE members just destroys the Foundation and basis of this organization. I believe that the tactics of the “closed eyes” harms the OSCE. And frankly we need to talk about it”, – said Gerashchenko.

Gerashchenko gave an example that she is not going to be silent, is to demand from the Ukrainian foreign Ministry to convey this information to the presiding in the OSCE, Minister for foreign Affairs of Austria Sebastian Kurtz.

“Last week the OSCE coordinator Tony Frisch in Minsk humanitarian group visited the Starobelsk prison, where those arrested for serious crimes, including separatism. It also contains the lost Russian military personnel of the Russian army Ageev. I a dozen times raised the issue on humanitarian Ageeva Minsk group and required the coordinator to visit the man, to see in normal conditions and the content. Communicate face to face, to hear the story of “the lost Russian military”, – said Gerashchenko.

First Vice-speaker reminded that the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine are participants of the Minsk tripartite groups.

“Imagine my surprise when the coordinator of the OSCE Frisch visited the prison and …. didn’t even ask about Ageev, went to him. Conscious tactic “not to see and not see” Russians in the Donbass, it is playing up to the Russians that “they are not there”. This is unacceptable. This position is frankly damaging to the process of release of hostages,” added Gerashchenko.

She stressed that “it is unacceptable – do not make any intention to visit the Ukrainian hostages in Russia, and consciously and deliberately “ignore” the Russian military detained in the Donbas.”

She said that the Russian Consul visited Ageeva only a couple of days ago, a Ukrainian consuls to the Ukrainian hostages in Russia are not allowed.
