Georgia had repealed criminal penalties for marijuana use
Uncategorized December 1, 2017The constitutional court of Georgia abolished criminal penalties for marijuana use. This is stated in the court’s decision on the official website.
The lawsuit was filed by a member of the party “Garci” Givi Shanidze and the court considered that the use of this drug does not pose much of a threat to society, and its prohibition violates human rights.
Thus, the use of hemp and marijuana will no longer be considered a criminal offense and falls under article “illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage in small volumes for personal use or consumption is illegal without a doctor’s prescription drugs, their analogues or precursors”.
The court also noted that “everyone has the right to free development of his personality”. In Tbilisi found that “the human right to choose their own form of recreation and implement appropriate activity, including using marijuana, is a sphere of protected personal autonomy of the person”.
On 22 July the President of Poland Andrzej Duda , signed the Law on counteracting drug addiction according to which products containing marijuana can be purchased in pharmacies by prescription.
