France can refuse to participate in the Olympics 2018-Korea

The French delegation will not go to Pyeongchang (South Korea) at the winter Olympics in 2018, if the current standoff over the nuclear program of the DPRK will increase and the organizers can not guarantee the safety of the athletes.

This was announced by the Minister of sports of France Laura Flessel, reports France Presse.

“If the situation deteriorates, and we will not have security guarantees, our French team will stay home,” said Flesler. “We won’t put our team in danger,” she added.

It is reported that Flessel is the first leading politician who publicly questioned the country’s participation in the Olympic games, which will be held from 9 to 25 February in Pentane, for reasons of security.

The host city of Pyeongchang is just 80 kilometers from the fortified border with North Korea.
