Energy Ministry asks to allocate funds for Novokonstantinovskaya uranium mine
KIEV. July 22. UNN. The Cabinet instructed the Ministry of energy to prepare and submit in the prescribed manner to the government the draft act on the allocation of funds Novokonstantinovskaya mine. This was during a government meeting said the acting Minister of energy Olga Bukovec, the correspondent of UNN.
“I propose to include in the Protocol decision of the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the energy Ministry and the Finance Ministry, the economy Ministry and the justice Ministry to prepare and submit in the established procedure to the Cabinet of Ministers a draft act on the allocation of funds from the Fund of struggle against acute respiratory disease COVID (19 – ed) caused by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 – ed.) and its impact on the financing of the project of implementation of the state investment project Novokonstantinovskaya mine, development of production capacities”, – said Olga Buslovich.
She noted that for the year 2020 in the state budget was allocated for this investment project funds in the amount of UAH 140 million and after making changes to combat COVID-19 the intention of the funding was cancelled.
“I want to note that the postponement of the implementation of the investment project may lead to reduction of volumes of extraction of uranium ore and production of uranium oxide concentrate in Ukraine and the increasing dependence of the domestic nuclear energy from foreign suppliers of uranium products poses a threat to energy, economic and national security,” – added Olga Bukovec.
The government has included this decision in the minutes of the meeting.
Recall, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill to support the production of “green” energy.
