The owner of the company SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk will launch to the ISS a deadly bacterium known for its resistance to antibiotics. The aim of the research in zero gravity it will be accelerated mutation, according to Forbes.
Bacteria that you will deliver to the ISS the spacecraft company SpaceX, is called MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is a special kind of Staphylococcus aureus, which is due to its high resistance to antibiotics causes several severe diseases.
The point of the experiment, which is financed by NASA, Forbes explained Professor Anita Joel – specialist in a new field of science called nanobiophysics. Hypothesis that will test astronauts on Board the ISS, is that in zero gravity mutation MRSA needs to go at an accelerated pace. If it is confirmed, scientists will have the opportunity to explore the mutation of bacteria that on Earth hasn’t happened yet. And thus come up with methods of treatment based on the changes that still lie ahead “earthly” MRSA.
“We are developing personalized and precise medicine, which allows you to better predict the resistance (of bacteria) drugs and, thus, (select) more smart drugs,” says Joel. She adds that the hypothesis she had 20 years ago, and now have a unique opportunity to check it out.
The experiment, funded by NASA, and CASIS is the Manager of the research laboratory of the ISS.
