Artist and designer Bob Givens, Creator of the popular image of the cartoon character bugs Bunny, has died at the age of 99 years. About it reports UNIAN with reference to BBC News.
Givens first drew bugs Bunny in 1940. He took a similar character – a rabbit, appearing in several cartoons. Warner Bros. wished to change the appearance of the hero, because the original was “too nice”.

The artist also worked on the cartoon series about Tom and Jerry, daffy and Donald duck, collaborated with the studios Disney, Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera.
It was from his pencil came the famous Alvin and the chipmunks, Popeye and other characters. Givens continued to work until the beginning of 2000-ies.
According to the daughter of the legendary animator, the reason for her father’s death was acute respiratory failure.
