This is stated in a new report by the Interdepartmental coordinating group for combating antimicrobial resistance, reports a press-the centre of the United Nations.
According to experts, more and more diseases, including respiratory infections and infections of the genitourinary system, not amenable to treatment. They report that today from drug-resistant diseases die each year 700 thousand people, of which 230 thousand from tuberculosis multi-drug resistant.

Also the report States that diseases are caused by bacteria resistant to antibiotics, and by 2050 will kill about 10 million people annually, and the economic damage from them can be compared with the scale of the consequences of the global crisis of 2008-2009, if the international community takes the necessary measures.
“Antimicrobial resistance is one of the major threats to the global community. The report says about the extent of the measures to be taken in order to stop the spread of this phenomenon,” said co-chair of the coordinating group, the first Deputy UN Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
The authors of the report remind us that human health is inextricably linked with animal health, the environment and food quality, and offer a multi-pronged approach in the fight against antibiotic resistance.
Experts, in particular, encourage a responsible approach to the appointment of antimicrobials for treatment of humans and animals, and to refuse their use as growth promoters in agriculture.
Interagency coordinating group to combat antimicrobial resistance was created in 2017, with the support of the UN Secretariat. It includes, in particular, representatives of FAO, the world health organization (who) and the world organisation for animal health.
As reported the UNIAN, 6 March 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a national action plan to combat antimicrobial resistance.
The health Ministry assured that the action plan to combat antimicrobial resistance will provide rational use of antimicrobials in health, veterinary and food industry.
