“Crimea is Ukraine”: the Embassy in Chisinau asked the media
Uncategorized February 3, 2018Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau, urged the media not to call Moldova annexed Crimea as “Russian” or “disputed” territory, because the international community and the Ukrainian law defines the illegal annexation. This is stated in a statement sent to the coordination Council on television and radio Moldova.
“The whole civilized world has imposed sanctions against Russia as punishment for the annexation of Crimea, a sovereign part of Ukraine. Crimea is not Russia, nor the “disputed territory”. The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city are the territories of Ukraine, temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation”, – said the Ukrainian Embassy.
Foreign Ministry recalled the resolution of the UN General Assembly, adopted on 27 March 2014 “territorial integrity of Ukraine”, as well as resolutions of 2017 “On the situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol (Ukraine)”.
“Ukraine expects that all international parties and actors will always remain impartial and objective and show respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Failure to do so is contrary to the fundamental principles of international law”, – stated in the message.
“Crimea is Ukraine” – summed up in the Embassy.
During the presidential campaign in Moldova, incumbent President Igor Dodon said that the Crimea belongs to Russia and did not repeat his belief with arguments. Since his election he has never visited Ukraine.
