The U.S. Congress has published the text of the draft law on additional sanctions against Russia and Iran and called the date of the vote – 25 July, Tuesday.
The project is represented by four members of the U.S. house of representatives. Voting will take place by a procedure involving the support of at least two thirds of the members of the chamber. As noted American media, like is done when the document is supported by representatives of both parties, and because there is confidence in its approval, reports “Interfax”.
The bill, in particular, proposes to reduce the maximum term of market financing of Russian banks under sanctions, up to 14 days, and of the companies subjected to the oil and gas sector – up to 30 days, said RIA “Novosti”.
The document also suggests that the US President can impose sanctions on individuals who intend to invest in the construction of Russian export pipelines over five million dollars a year or a million dollars at a time, or going to provide projects, services, technology or to provide information support.
It is indicated that the United States will continue to oppose the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream – 2” because of the “harmful impact on energy security of EU gas market development in Central and Eastern Europe and energy reform in Ukraine”.
Congress also believes that the new sanctions should not be applied to the two countries ‘ cooperation on space and harming NASA.
In addition to the new restrictions, there is another key point: the bill
if approved by Congress and signed by the President of the United States Donald trump will allow Congress to interfere with the initiatives of the administration for changes in the sanctions policy. This item tabled due to concerns of legislators about what trump will be able to mitigate sanctions policy.
The document also provides for the consolidation on the legislative level the previous orders of the U.S. administration of sanctions.
