Weapons on other physical principles will determine the combat potential of the Russian troops in the coming decades. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the leadership of the defense Ministry and military industry. In particular, the head of state paid attention to the complex “Peresvet”, which is designed to intercept planes and enemy missiles. Earlier, the President spoke about the progress in upgrading the VCS and the need to address problems in the aerospace industry. It was about the buildup of the Russian orbital grouping. Putin set tasks, as experts believe, will increase the combat power of aerospace forces.

Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the leadership of the defense Ministry and the military-industrial complex (MIC) discussed the possibility of Russian weapons to the so-called new physical principles. According to the head of state, that such weapons will determine the combat potential of the Russian army and fleet for almost the entire twenty-first century.
“In addition, we will discuss work on a system of laser weapons using Russian-made optics and a highly sensitive opto-electronics, including the types of weapons that, until recently, to be honest to say we all know, are found only in science fiction stories. Mean combat laser systems for tactical level. They are created in practice,” — said the Russian leader.
Currently, as stated by Vladimir Putin, the military operation passes the laser complex “Peresvet”. For the first time about it it became known from the message of the President to the Federal Assembly on March 1, 2018. In July, the defense Ministry reported that for the operation of the system, “has prepared the necessary infrastructure, including facilities and equipment on duty”.
In an interview with RT military expert Yuri Whips stressed that “Peresvet” designed to intercept aircraft, missiles and, possibly, the satellites of the enemy. A powerful laser beam capable of burning through the hull and causing damage to the equipment. “Peresvet”, according to the analyst, can cover key military infrastructure, including the areas of deployment of strategic missile systems.
“Russia is the first country in the world, which put on combat duty laser weapons. This suggests that our country is ahead of other powers in this region. Laser weapons are huge benefits to its owner: the shot is worth a penny, and the goal is amazed at the speed of light,” — said of the Whips.
At the same time modern laser weapons, there are a number of disadvantages. According to Yuri Knutova, “Peresvet” is a rather cumbersome complex, and the beam will likely not penetrate the rain and fog. However, as the expert believes, it is necessary to actively use this system to accelerate the advent of more sophisticated weapons.
“Test “Peresvet” are including research tasks. I’m sure over time will create a compact terrestrial and marine complexes. At the same time domestic aircraft will also be equipped with compact and powerful laser installations. With their appearance the problem with rain and fog will cease to be relevant,” added Whips.
“For decades ahead”
A meeting on the arms on other physical principles, has completed a series of traditional may meeting of the President with the leadership of the Ministry of defence and the defence industry. During the year, Vladimir Putin twice (usually in may and November) conducts similar activities.
This year meetings are held in the new format. As reported by the head of state, they discussed issues of development of a particular kind or kinds of armed forces, not a separate class of weapons. Ended may 17, a series of meetings addressed the issues of modernization of Air and space forces.

VKS was established in 2015. Their structure consists of air force, army air and missile defense and Space forces. The latter are responsible for the reflection of various threats from outer space, launch satellites and constellation management.
During previous meetings, Mr Putin said that Russia made significant achievements in updating the technical shape of videoconferencing. In 2013-2018, the industry gave the defense more than a thousand new and upgraded aircraft and helicopters. Today the share of modern machines in aviation is 65%, and the VCS as a whole — 74%.
“Their combat capabilities were demonstrated during operations against terrorists in Syria. For example, front-line bomber su-24M with a new guidance system and navigation used as conventional bombs and precision-guided weapons. As a result, the consumption of air weapons has been reduced several times,” — said the head of state.
By 2028 under the new state armament Programme (GPV) videoconferencing will receive 76 serial fighters of the fifth generation su-57. The new machines will be armed with three aviation regiment. The contract for the supply of aircraft and weapons should be concluded in the near future.
Previously, the defense Ministry planned to buy 16 units of su-57. As noted by the head of state, military Department increased the number of procurement of the fifth generation fighter due to agreements with industry to reduce the cost of cars, aircraft missiles and bombs by 20%.

In the comments of the RT chief editor of the magazine “Arsenal Fatherland” Victor murakhovski explained that the decline in the price of fifth generation fighter was due to higher production. Modest purchases, originally laid out in the LG, the expert explains the unwillingness of the engine of the second stage (“article 30”).
“Prototypes of the su-57 fly engine-first phase of the AL-41F-1 (“article 117″). It’s a decent powerplant, but the new engine will be more perfect, this new generation. It is natural that the defence Ministry wants to get planes with it. I can assume that with the defense industry, a compromise was reached: the first serial su-57 will fly on the AL-41F-1, but then they will remoteserver” — said murakhovski.
Special attention Vladimir Putin paid to the updating of the strategic aviation is the air component of the nuclear triad of the Russian Federation. According to him, the modernization of the Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 “White Swan” will have the opportunity to apply the latest cruise missiles and “other advanced means of destruction”.
On 13 may, the first day of a series of meetings Vladimir Putin visited Kazan aviation plant named after Gorbunov (KAZ). The enterprise is tasked with the production of Tu-160 and the modernization of OLG. In the coming years, troops will be sent ten new “White swans”, ten combatant aircraft will be equipped with the latest avionics and engines.

As explained in an interview with RT founder of the portal Military of Russia Dmitry Kornev, the plant named after Gorbunov will be loaded by orders of the Ministry of defense “for decades ahead”. For this reason, the company currently is upgrading and expanding production capacity.
“New Tu-160 will significantly exceed the combat capabilities of the current version of the aircraft come from the 1980s. Rather, a series of “White swans” will be limited to ten units. In the future, priority will be given to the strategist of the new generation PAK DA, which develops JSC “Tupolev”. Apparently, he also will be collected on site in Kazan. Therefore, investment in the production base of the plant Gorbunova fully justified,” — said Kornev.
Cosmic train
In addition to issues of aviation, Putin discussed with the leadership of the Ministry of defence and the defence industry the situation in the Space forces. According to the head of the state in Russia is consistently developing System of missile attack warning (early warning system).
As stated by the President, in the coming years, ground-based echelon will be improved through the construction of radar stations (radar) over-the-horizon detection 29Б6 “Container” developed by JSC “research Institute of distant radio” (NIIDAR, Moscow). This unique complex allows to monitor the traffic situation over most of Western Europe and the Middle East.

Space echelon early warning system includes the orbital grouping. Since 2013, it has increased by half. The composition of satellites was updated on 80%. Over the past three years, the space echelon tracked the more than 150 launches of ballistic missiles of Russian and foreign production.
The rating of Vladimir Putin, the possibility of orbital grouping has improved. However, he drew attention to a number of “accumulated systemic problems” in the aerospace industry.
The head of state called for an end to exploit the old backlog and planned to increase the grouping of space vehicles of military and dual-purpose.
As explained by Victor murakhovski, the presence in outer space is of exceptional importance for the Russian army. The satellite constellation provides the troops a variety of intelligence information, navigation system (GLONASS) and communication. She also is responsible for guidance of guided missile weapons.
“Orbital group increase all the major powers. In addition, the burden on the Russian satellites now is very big. Increasing their number will improve the operation of the elements of a Unified system of space communications and systems of reconnaissance and targeting. Negative impact is the fact that almost all of the 1990-ies, we did not launch military satellites. The current number of vehicles is still insufficient to meet all the needs of the defense Ministry. Actually was talking about the President,” — said murakhovski.

The expert drew attention to the need to further improve the performance of the spacecraft — increase the speed of data processing and transmission, upgrading the optics and other systems. Another problem is the lack of elemental component base of domestic production. However, this problem is solved due to the growth of import substitution and purchase of certain parts in third countries.
Dmitry Kornev notes that the Russian leadership is aware of the tremendous military value of space. In this regard, will take all necessary measures to ensure that Russia retained its status as one of the major space powers. The expert believes that, in addition to the orbital grouping of the Ministry of defence will continue to develop the system of anti-satellite weapons.
“The satellites are located at lower (about 300-500 km) and geostationary orbit (more than 35 thousand km). Modern technologies allow to hit satellites in low orbit. The development of such weapons is underway in the United States, China and Russia. This is a system that can intercept and disable the equipment,” — said Kornev.
According to experts, given the current reductions in military spending the best option for satellite weapons — special missiles armed with combat aircraft. Kornev implies that such a weapon can appear in the Arsenal of the fighter-interceptor MiG-31. We are talking about an upgraded version of the Soviet experimental rocket 79М6 “Contact”. Also the possibility of intercepting satellites has a promising set “Nudol” and anti-aircraft missile system s-500.
“Modernization of videoconferencing allows Russia to solve a lot of combat missions. At the strategic level is the early warning system and curbing the United States, at the tactical protection of air borders and the operations such as Syria. Not accidentally, the share of modern equipment in the aerospace forces is second only to the SRF. The most important incentives for the improvement of videoconferencing are technical and scientific progress and the analysis of the combat use of hundreds of types of weapons in Syria,” said Kornev.
