CIA: Military hackers of the Russian Federation organized a cyber attack in Ukraine – WP
Uncategorized January 13, 2018According to the CIA, the Russian military hackers are behind the cyber attacks in Ukraine in June 2017, which was intended to destroy the country’s financial system. It is reported by The Washington Post , citing sources in the Department.
Military agents of the Russian GRU created the virus NotPetya. This conclusion of “high confidence” did the CIA in November last year.
The virus also struck the system in Denmark, India and the United States. But more than half of the infected computers were in Ukraine.
The CIA does not comment.
The cyber attack happened on June 27, 2017. It was called the largest in the history of the country. The attack, in particular, has been Ukrtelecom, Kyiv and Dniproenergo, Ukrzaliznytsia, Boryspil Airport, the Cabinet of Ministers.
The cyber-police of Ukraine reported that the virus outbreak occurred because of the program M. E.doc (software for reporting and workflow).
The Minister of national defence of Poland, Anthony Macierewicz then stated that we should not exclude the possible involvement of Russia to attack Ukraine and Europe.
