Student of the Odessa College of Economics, law and hotel and restaurant business told how he survived a fatal fire on 4 December, killing at least 10 people.

“When the couple, we heard you were running a lot of people who shout. At first I thought it was as during recess the kids just run. I went out into the corridor and saw smoke coming from the third floor. Ran into the office and say, “we Got fire!”. The teacher ran out and said, “We burn!”. She said to take things in and out to try to get us out,” recalled the girl.

The students tried to escape the building. But the way out was blocked already on the stairs they encountered thick black smoke and heat. Then the group returned back to the office and firmly closed the door. The teacher called and asked for help.

Meanwhile, in their office through the cracks began to penetrate the thick acrid smoke. One of the students started to panic and tried to jump out the window, but she was not allowed to do it. Breathing was becoming harder.

“When the Cabinet was full of smoke, I knew that all already breathe, I started to pray to God. I cried: “Lord, save all who are here in the office because I don’t know how to leave,” said the student.

Through the window she saw the flame that burst from the third floor.

“No one saw us. We screamed, nobody heard us. Our window was filled with smoke,” – says Alla.

One student suggested to go out the window to see them. They had legs. But under their Windows there was no one. Downstairs was the rescuers extinguished the fire, but the machines with stairs could be seen.

The girl wanted to call and say goodbye to mom, but because of the smoke in the phone, nothing could be seen.

“I wanted to call my mom. I already felt suffocated and just wanted to say good-bye at the last moment. I took the phone, nothing is visible… I understand that it can’t,” she said.

At this point they all arrived at the car with a ladder on which students were evacuated. The latest from the office out to the teacher. When they were on the street, caught fire on the fourth floor.

“When I came down, I learned that my classmates who were on the fifth floor, where we were the first pair out jumped my classmate from the fifth floor. She fell on the concrete. I just prayed, saying, o Lord, please save me, this is my friend!…”, – says the student.

In addition, one of her friends in that fire got missing.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on the morning of 4 December in the Odessa College of Economics, law and hotel and restaurant business on the 3rd floor of a 6 storied academic building there was a fire, which area made of 4 thousand sq. m. this corner building was home to 19 different organizations and institutions.

Immediately after the fire it became known about the death of 16-year-old student, the evening of 5 December under the rubble was discovered the deceased woman-teacher, 6 Dec – two more victims, on the night of 7 Dec – one man, the evening of 8 December – the other two, on the same day died in hospital rescue Sergei Shatohin. The fire injured more than 30 people.
