Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked the head of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin about the release of wrongfully convicted Crimean Tatar leaders
Akhtem chigusa and
Ilmi Umerov. About it the Deputy head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz said in an interview with
the Crimea.Realities.
“When we flew to Ankara with Ilmi by Umarovi in the plane with us was the third – largest Turkish businessman, who spent three months in jail in Moscow. I asked Erdogan how he did it. He said that no one asked – said we need to let go,” said Chiygoz.
According to him, Putin’s visit to Turkey and Erdogan’s visit to Ukraine was a humiliation for the Russian leader.
In may 2016 the Russian intelligence services
had fabricated a criminal case against Umerov on the article “separatism”. According to the occupants, the Deputy head of the Assembly “called for the violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian TV channel ATR”.
September 11, 2017 at the trial in the fabricated case of the Deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chigos the Russian invaders in the Crimea
was given 8 years in prison of strict regime, and two weeks later, the Kremlin-controlled so-called Simferopol regional court
have pronounced a sentence to another Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov: he was given 2 years in prison.
The head of Majlis
Refat Chubarov said that umer and Chiygoz
will live and work in Kiev, because “until the liberation of the Crimea the road home for them is closed”.
