As reported by kommersant, citing BitTorrent Inc, the payment cryptocurrency will help users to accelerate the download files.

Additionally, BTT will be available for users outside the United States with Binance Launchpad. Tokens will be distributed including by airdrop (free distribution of tokens).

BTT will be first introduced in the µTorrent client, Classic Windows. Users who want to abandon the cryptocurrency can do it via client settings. Transfer files for them to remain free.
