Belarus has restricted the import of pork from Poltava and Odessa regions of ASF

The Department of veterinary and food supervision of the Ministry of agriculture of the Republic of Belarus has restricted the import of pigs of Poltava and Odessa regions of Ukraine due to African swine fever, reports UNN with reference to the decree of the Department.
“We need to take further measures to prevent importation into the territory of the Republic of Belarus from Poltava and Odessa regions of Ukraine of live pigs, semen of boars, pork meat and products of its processing, leather, rogakopita and raw intestines, stubble, wild boars, hunting trophies obtained from the susceptible species of animals, feeds and feed additives for animals of vegetable and animal origin, the equipment used for transporting, maintenance, slaughter and cutting of pigs,” — said in the message.
These restrictions apply to the importation of feeds and feed additives for cats and dogs, as well as prepared feeds, subjected to heat treatment and made of a pig-breeding raw materials, the origin of Vinnytsia region.
We will remind, in Poltava and Odessa regions of another outbreak of ASF was recorded in late may of this year.
Experts predict that this year the African plague will not back down and may cause the state budget more than UAH 1.5 bn loss.
Politicians believe that the relevant agencies designed to deal with the plague, has left farmers with the problem and its devastating consequences alone.
In particular, according to people’s Deputy Sergei Trigubenko, the pork market has sounded the alarm for more than a year, and the state foods and consumer service, at least, ought to perform their duties.
We will add that the import of Ukrainian pork has refused Moldova, Romania and Armenia.
