A landing strip (VPP) the international airport “Odessa” with a length of 2.8 km will be built and equipped with appropriate technology to the end of 2019. This was told by the acting General Director of the municipal enterprise “Odessa international airport” Olga Macahonic at a meeting in the Odessa city Council, responding to a parliamentary inquiry, reports “UKRINFORM”.
Set of equipment for WFP, which provided the project has already been purchased, it will establish, as soon as dry weather.
“Company “Highway-South” resumed after the winter period of construction of the runway. I hope that by the end of the year, according to the schedule, construction was completed, including installation of equipment already purchased,” said Macahonic.
According to her, the volume of investments into the project amount to approximately 500-600 million UAH.

To date, the builders have already paved most of the runway is a mile from the planned 2.8 km away, and is Now continuing the concrete and excavation work.
The specialists of “Highway-South” believe that the runway of the Odessa airport will be even stronger than the one built in Istanbul. As in the Turkish airport the bet is placed on speed of construction using asphalt and the Odessa project provides band coating more durable type of concrete.
We will remind, in August 2018, the company’s specialists “Highway-South” started the construction of the runway of the international airport “Odessa”.
Before doing this, July 18, on the construction of the runway, the Cabinet of Ministers has sent 253 million. Commissioning of the new runway will allow to accept the heavier types of aircraft, including Boeing-767, which will contribute to the increase in passenger traffic doubled.
Also in the framework of the project it is planned to install lighting, radio navigation and meteorological equipment for the certified approach category III (ICAO) (the current runway is certified for category I (ICAO).
As previously reported, the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine approved a UAH 1.1 bn in 2019 for reconstruction of the airfield complex of the municipal enterprise “international airport “Odessa”.
