Ballet dancer, actor and choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov, who lives in the United States, wrote a letter to the Director Kirill Serebrennikov, who is under house arrest on charges of embezzlement of budget funds. The author of the letter expressed their support to the artists who have fallen under criminal prosecution.
Letter Baryshnikov has published on his page in Facebook, the writer Grigory Chkhartishvili (Boris Akunin), explaining that the ballet dancer does not use social networks. The writer notes that “upset, alarmed and excited about what is happening” Serebrennikov. “I thought that, living long in the free world, it’s easy to forget the horror of the ugliness and injustice that existed there, and I fear will long continue to exist in Russia”, – said in the letter.
Baryshnikov with the warmth drawn to the peer theatre workshop: “Hold on, my dear Cyril”. However, the artist condemns the Russian officials and law enforcement officers, comparing them to executioners. “Of course, you know that officials, investigators, prosecutors, and the Supreme chiefs – deeply, firmly and irredeemably incompetent. Their only talent is the talent of the executioner, which is expressed on a background of unlimited power and individual obsessive obscurantism,” writes choreographer.
According to Baryshnikov, “bullying people do not interfere with the officials sleep well”. “These people can put anyone under lock and key, to humiliate unfounded allegations, try to make a public mockery,” – said the author of the message.
At the same time, Baryshnikov expresses confidence that Serebrennikov would be justified. “The day will come when everything that happens to you, will be remembered with contempt as a failed attempt “to cut one size fits all”.

Actor Oleg Basilashvili also appealed to the Director in the letter, which called the situation with the arrest of phantasmagoria and expressed the hope that it will burst like a soap bubble.
