In Odessa, the landslide on the beach in the area of Chernomorka probably occurred due to construction works.

As UNIAN correspondent, about this today at the meeting said the Vice-mayor of Odessa Peter Ryabokon.

According to him, the cause of the landslide – construction work on the slope was held by the owner of one of private houses.

“The incident is partly the result of construction work directly with the owner of the land, which is located on private land in the alley Ushakov”, – told Vice-the mayor.

According to him, the owner decided to equip the terrace, which at a depth of 2.5-3 meters, the builders drove eight metal tubes, each of which has a diameter of 50 mm.

On this site “there is a crack”, but, according to Riabokon, access the officials there since it is private property. But the likely possibility of further progress of the earth, which can lead to the destruction of adjacent buildings.

“So we went back for 2 years and applications for emergency situations on these plots did not find any,” added Ryabokon.

According to him, the place to which yesterday fell to the ground, not an official beach. During the landslide there were five people, of which one was not physically hurt – people at this time came closer to the sea. During the disassembling of the dam were found on their belongings and documents that have already been returned to their owners.

The mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov disposed to conduct preventive work with the residents of Chernomorka, which, according to the mayor, digging a cesspool, the contents of which are also eroding slopes.

Today, rescuers completed a search operation, as it was assumed that under the rubble can be people.
