Amnesty called on to investigate an attack on LGBT event in Kharkov
Uncategorized May 19, 2017International human rights organization Amnesty International has urged the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the attack against LGBT activists that occurred during a rally in Kharkiv. It is reported by the BBC.
“While in Kherson and Mykolaiv, the national police showed a high level of professionalism and ensured a certain safety of participants (C).. in the Kharkov event was marked by a significant level of violence and police inaction,” reads the statement.
Amnesty called on police to “effectively and promptly investigate all attacks, threats and incitement to violence”.
As reported, on may 17 in Kharkiv a group of unknown people in balaclavas broke the protest of the LGBT community. During the scuffle with them, injured two police officers.
