London plans to build new military bases in the Caribbean and in South-East Asia.
This was announced by the Minister of defence of Britain Gavin Williamson, writes Bloomberg.
Such plans are part of efforts to make the UK a “true global player”, increasing the country’s role in the international arena after its exit from the European Union.

It is also a transition from the so-called vostochnobeisky strategy of 1968, when great Britain left its military bases in South-East Asia and the Persian Gulf, said Williamson.
“We must clearly explain that Britain is a global nation,” said Williamson. The UK already has bases in Cyprus, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands and Diego Garcia.
The Minister predicts that after the withdrawal of Britain from the EU “the political focus will shift dramatic enough” and Britain should deepen relations with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the Caribbean as well as African countries.
We will remind, the world community must support Ukraine in the situation with the seizure of its ships by Russia. This was stated by the Minister of defence of the United Kingdom given Williamson in Odessa at a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Stepan Poltorak. According to Williamson, it is necessary to give Moscow to understand that such actions are unacceptable and will not remain unanswered.
