Accident in Kharkov: today the court will elect a measure of restraint Zaitseva

Today at 14:00 in the Kiev district court of Kharkov held a meeting to determine the measure of restraint to the driver of the car Lexus Elena Zaitseva, who drove into a crowd of passers on October 18. This was reported today adviser to the interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko in Facebook.

“The Prosecutor’s office and the police will insist on election of a preventive measure in the form of arrest for the period of investigation in order to avoid attempts to evade responsibility for their actions,” – said Gerashchenko.

He suggested that the court on the charges may refuse to accept the decision to arrest the suspect and to choose the measure of restraint in the form of pledge or house arrest”.

The press service of the Prosecutor of the Kharkiv region notedthat today Zaitseva gave the suspicion of violation of road traffic safety, entailed death of several persons (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal code).

The maximum sanction of article prescribes punishment in the form of 10 years of imprisonment.

18 October at about 20:45 in Kharkiv on the Central street of Sumy has occurred a large road accident: a car allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a Volkswagen Touareg, then took off on the sidewalk with pedestrians. Due to the collision killed five people, including a 15-year-old girl. Five passers-by injured, two in serious condition.

At the wheel foreign cars was 20-year-old Zaytseva, the adopted daughter of the Kharkov businessman Vasily Zaitsev, President of the Group, the Typhoon, the Chairman of the Board and cendirect CHAO PTP ukrenergochermet.
