A gang of criminals extorted money from businessmen in the Donetsk region
KIIV.21 Jan. UNN. In the Donetsk region exposed an organized group which was engaged in extortion of funds from local private enterprises. It is reported by UNN citing the press service of the security Service of Ukraine.
“As militiamen established, the gang consisted of residents of the Donetsk region, including the heads of several of the metallurgical industry of the region and representatives of one of local human rights organizations. They threatened physical violence, forcing the merchant to pay an additional “debt” in the amount of 13 thousand dollars. After the “overdue” payment, the attackers set fire to cars and apartments of the victim, which affected his relatives”, – stated in the message.
Also, according to intelligence agencies, criminals demanded from contractor “kickback” in the amount of 600 thousand hryvnias in exchange for assistance in obtaining tenders for the repair of production equipment.
“Detained members of the group during the next “tranche” in the amount of 10 thousand hryvnia in the center of Mariupol. Law enforcement authorities seized cash, drugs, explosives, ammunition and other materials proving the criminal activities of bandits”, – stated in the message.
In SBU added that it had opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 189 of the criminal code. Now investigative actions proceed, the set of all the participants and circumstances of illegal activity.
