The European Commission has promised to ensure access to free Internet throughout the EU and in Norway and Iceland. This was reported on the website of the EC.

In the framework of the “United network for Europe” within two years of the total budget will be allocated 120 million euros.

Local authorities, which are the first to apply for funding under this program will be able to install Wi-Fi transmitters in may 2018. After receiving the voucher funding they will be able to choose a contractor who will be required to deploy a network of WiFi4EU to working condition within 18 months after signing the contract.
