NATO monitors military activity of the Russian Federation in the Kaliningrad region and calls for transparency about the possible deployment of tactical missile systems Iskander. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reports European truth.
The Secretary General said that Russia many years ago declared intention to deploy Iskander in Kaliningrad on a regular basis, but they always came back.
“I’m not going to comment on whether there is now Iskander on an ongoing basis, it applies to intelligence. (…) I call on Russia to be transparent. This is one of the reasons for the importance of the Council Russia-NATO, which we use for reporting military exercises and military capabilities”, – said Stoltenberg.
February 5, Russia deployed in the Kaliningrad region operational-tactical missile complexes Iskander, capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Lithuanian intelligence reports that this step is done in order to be able to hit the targets NATO in the region.
