International Institute for strategic studies has recommended that governments of European States to optimize defence spending to more successfully confront the threats of the strengthening of Russia. In the annual report of the Institute of Russia was called the main threat in the field of homeland security in Eastern and Northern Europe, reports Deutsche Welle.
Institute Director John Chipman said that “European States are increasingly aware of the fact that the world is a dangerous place”, and boost defense spending.
The military spending of European countries in 2017 increased by 3.6%. According to Chipman, this is the highest growth rate in the world.
The report notes that China is increasing its military power and strengthens its claim to great power status.
The Pentagon has previously acknowledged that Russia and China pose to the United States “growing threat”.
