The results of the visit Gennady Trukhanov in Greece in Odessa will host a conference on issues of medical tourism

KIEV. 26 Jan. UNN. Currently, a representative of the Odessa delegation headed by the mayor Gennady Trukhanov is on a working visit to the Hellenic Republic, reports UNN.

During the visit in Athens Gennady Trukhanov took part in the international conference “Odessa — a European city”, which was organized with the aim of promoting Odessa to the countries of the European Union European public law organization (EPLO).

The mayor presented the Odessa from the position of investment brand “Odessa 5T”. Gennady Trukhanov told about the flavor, diversity and interculturali, focusing on the historical ties of Odessa and Greece today, cooperation with the Greek Diaspora of the city.

“An example of such interaction is the creation in our city of the Greek Park, which will be a beautiful gift to Odessa and another reason to experience Greek culture,” — said the mayor of Odessa.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, political and scientific leaders, and students of Greek universities.

It should be noted, EPLO (European public law organization) is an influential international legal organization dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in public law and management, and the promotion of European values to democratic institutions all over the world.

Also during the visit, the mayor of Odessa met with the President of the Association of mayors of the Greek cities George Paulison. The parties discussed the issues concerning decentralization policy in Ukraine, progress and further steps in this area. In his turn, Mr. Patoulis told about the Greek experience in this matter.

“Today the Greek side see the prospects of development of tourist destination presented to us strategy. We had planned to conduct in Odessa in March of this year a conference on medical tourism with the participation of representatives of municipalities of Greece and potential investors in tourism infrastructure in our city”, — commented Gennady Trukhanov.

In Athens the mayor of Odessa have studied and the experience of Greece in the solution of the problem of sorting and recycling of household waste. Called for a special Europe’s first environmental educational Park, which is a set of objects: machines, sorting and pressing of waste, provision of remuneration or other types of incentive participants processing — workshop of artistic econometria, where are goods and artistic works from the materials subject to disposal; — environmental hall of games, where in game form training, which helps build the concept of benefit to the individual disposal and environmental protection; — amphitheatre, a multifunctional venue for musical and theatrical performances, environment and nature.

“For our city, the issue of sorting and recycling of household waste every day is gaining increasing importance. In the past year we have discussed with representatives of the European Commission the possibility of investing in opening a similar Park in Odessa. The dialogue continues”, — said Gennady Trukhanov.

The municipality of Athens and the Park staff are aiming to raise a child in the population careful attitude to the environment, to help the citizens to actively participate in the process of recycling, including through training in techniques of sorting and recycling of household waste. The program of educational classes approved by the Ministry of education of the Republic and is compulsory for students of Athens.
