Trump extended for a six-year program of surveillance of foreigners
Uncategorized January 20, 2018The US President Donald trump on Friday, January 19, has signed the decree about prolongation for six years of the program, allowing the national security Agency (NSA) without court authorization to conduct surveillance and collect data on foreign citizens and organizations, which are outside the United States. About it reports a press-service of the White house.
The program allows you to listen to telephone conversations and read e-mails of individuals and organizations, “gathering critical information about international terrorists, distributors of weapons and other important targets of foreign intelligence outside the United States.”
“Just signed a bill section 702, extending the data collection on foreigners in the interests of foreign intelligence. I will always do what need to do for the welfare of our country and the safety of American citizens will always be for me in the first place,” wrote trump on his Twitter page.
The President noted that this version differs considerably from the one the term of which expired on January 19. His decree extends the program until December 31, 2023 and makes a number of amendments to existing legislation.
Trump said that only foreigners who reside abroad can be subjected to surveillance, in accordance with section 702. In turn, it ensures reliable protection of privacy for American citizens, as the program prohibited the government to follow the Americans and persons throughout the state.
