Klimkin in Chernivtsi will discuss the “language law” with his Romanian counterpart
Uncategorized January 11, 2018Tomorrow, January 11, Chernivtsi, foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will meet with his Romanian counterpart Teodor Melescanu. This was reported by press service of the foreign Ministry.
Among other things, the diplomats will discuss the rights of the Romanian minorities in the implementation in local schools of the new education act based on the conclusions of the Venice Commission.
In addition, it is expected the meeting of heads of diplomacy of Ukraine and Romania with the leadership of the Chernivtsi regional administration and Chernivtsi, as well as representatives of the Romanian community in the area.
Last time Klimkin visited Transcarpathia and a half months ago, saying that between Ukraine and Hungary because of the “language issue” a difficult dialogue, not a diplomatic conflict.

5 September 2017 Rada approved the reform of education. Under the new law, representatives of national minorities can receive education in their native language along with the state in preschool and elementary school, representatives of indigenous peoples in pre – school institutions and secondary schools. The next stages of learning provides the opportunity to study the language of the indigenous people or minorities as a separate subject.
Concern was expressed by Romania and followed her and Hungary. To abandon the innovations of Ukraine called in Moldova, and in Russia expected said about “forced Ukrainization”. Later, Romania has acted for dialogue with Kiev.
