Shoigu: Russia creates a constant force at bases in Syria

A permanent grouping of the Russian troops began to form at the point of logistics of the Navy in Tartus and the base Hamim. This was stated by Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, reports TASS.

“We initiated the formation of a permanent group there (in Tartus and Mamimi – ed.)”, – said Shoigu.

He added that last week completed the withdrawal of the main part of the group that was in Syria, including aircraft and other equipment.

“Permanent group will form in the course of the year,” – said the first Deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Russia Franz Klintsevich.

11 December, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to begin the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria.
