Fat stores is about 160 UAH per kg – expert

KIEV. 12 Dec. UNN. In Ukraine, the price of bacon in the store is about 160 UAH per kilogram of product. About this Facebook said the Chairman of the Association of retail suppliers Oleksiy Doroshenko, reports UNN.

So, this year, bacon became the champion of price increase among the so-called social food. From the beginning, the product price increased by 68%.

“That’s a big difference between prices in some regions, when a resident of Ternopil pays for it 46 UAH, Kiev — 124. The price of bacon in the capital city varies between 100 and 150 UAH. The price sometimes depends on the hours of sales, not quality,” wrote O. Doroshenko.

However, among several post-Soviet countries the cost of store fats in Ukraine is the biggest, the expert said.

“In Ukraine, the price of bacon in the store amounted to UAH 157,6. per kilogram of product, in Belarus — 140,5 UAH. in Lithuania 138,1 UAH. and in Poland, only 58,4 UAH. Polish producers let go of the fat, with the need for our country documents, even from 25 UAH. per kilogram”, — wrote O. Doroshenko.

The expert also explained why the fat in Ukraine, is breaking price records. One of the main reasons — a reduction in the number of pigs from the villagers.

“And the reason for the reduction of livestock including the reduction of waste products from the table hosts, who had previously been the main source of food. Previously, a third of all products thrown away, which corresponds to global trends. But because of the decline in the living standards of the Ukrainians have become more economical and buy as much as you can eat. If we add African swine fever, the circle is closed,” — said O. Doroshenko.

Recall that in 2016 in Ukraine destroyed nearly 78 thousand pigs because of ASF. However, at the end of 2016, farmers received about 40% of compensation for specified disease in animals.

According to people’s Deputy Sergei Trigubenko, to minimize the loss of farmers and the state as a whole, in Ukraine need to resume the practice of insurance of farms against ASF.
