Hungary asks to send a permanent OSCE mission in Transcarpathia

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siarto in the framework of the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna called on the observers of the Special monitoring mission to deploy observers in the Transcarpathian region because of the “tensions” in the region. It is reported by UNN with reference to the official website of the OSCE.
“Hungary supports Ukraine in many areas … we Fund a lot of infrastructure and institutional projects, that is why the adoption by the Parliament (Ukraine) the law on education in September of this year became for us a real disappointment. This law takes away existing rights of persons belonging to national minorities with regard to education and training in their native language. It is completely contrary to the bilateral and multilateral obligations, including obligations of the OSCE, ” – said the head of the Hungarian foreign Ministry, adding about the so-called” nationalist sentiment “in Ukraine.

After the statement about the “discriminatory” educational law, Szijjártó went on to question so-called tense situation in the Transcarpathian region.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are concerned about tensions in the Transcarpathian region, where 150 thousand Hungarians. There was antiviruskit demonstration, joined by the inhabitants of other regions of Ukraine, during which there was abuse of national symbols and chanted slogans antiviruskit. In this regard we insist on the constant presence of the special monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE in the Transcarpathian region, ” – said Siyyarto.
