Environmentalists urge to lift the moratorium on inspections in terms of handling
Uncategorized December 4, 2017KIEV. 4 Dec. UNN. Environmentalists for the third year, publicly appealing to authorities to restore order in the sphere of pesticide management. This was during a press conference said environmentalist Alla wojciechowska, the correspondent of UNN.
“Today, in Ukraine there are many registered pesticides, more than a thousand, and none of the pesticides in Ukraine does not control. Citizens were left alone… it is the third time I appeal publicly to the officials to resolve the situation of pesticide management. We try to explain that in fact, these pesticides will affect everyone. Scientists have discovered that their negative impact on the person can reach the fourth generation,” – said A. Voitsehovska.
According to her, Ukrainian agricultural enterprises use a range of pesticides that are banned in Europe, Russia and Belarus. Thus, there is no system of control over the treatment.
“The problem is that neither Gosekoinspektsiya nor the state foods and consumer service did not exercise control. And in fact, insertion into the earth – no one knows. We once again appeal to all the state bodies. We are asking to lift the moratorium on any checks by the state foods and consumer service and state ecoinspection in the part of pesticide management. And be sure to approve the procedure for inspections of businesses”, – said A. wojciechowska.
We will remind, Ukraine has accumulated 12 billion tons of waste, of which 12 million tons are hazardous and poisonous substances which can trigger cancer in the population.
Problems in the field of treatment of hazardous wastes explain the lack of control and irresponsibility.
Licenses to work with toxic chemicals are enterprises without adequate resources and technology. They take the money for the alleged disposal of hazardous waste, however, not having the material-technical base, throw them somewhere.
To check the company is almost impossible – in the country the moratorium on business inspections. Therefore, the disposal of hazardous waste in Ukraine are called “paper” or virtual. After a “disposal” of hazardous waste yourself on spontaneous dumps near rivers, forests and homes.
In Parliament tried to change the situation and strengthen the requirements for obtaining a license. MPs from the environmental parliamentary Committee last year prepared a bill under which companies will have to pass a mandatory test before obtaining a license. However, still the bill is not passed and the moratorium is not lifted.
