A journalist and a volunteer from Kharkov died in the area ATO

Honored journalist of Ukraine, the administrator of the OTB channel of the Kharkiv branch of the National public broadcaster, volunteer and war correspondent Mykola Shlapak died during a business trip in the area ATO. According to Mr. Koksharov, March 1 N. Shlapak fainted in Happiness, where he was in the hospital. Later he was transferred to the regional hospital in Severodonetsk. The doctors diagnosed a heart attack, on March 2 announced a new diagnosis — aortic dissection.

As have informed in a press-service of Public broadcasting, in late March, Mykola Shlapak would be to turn 36 years old. In the Kharkiv regional state television and, subsequently, on the OTB channel Mykola Shlapak worked for almost 17 years.

He made several trips to the Donbass after the beginning of military conflict. Thanks to his stream-broadcasts the audience of the TV channel OTB and other subsidiaries of PJSC “NSTU” word of mouth learned about the situation in the Donbas. Mykola Shlapak spoke with the Ukrainian military, civilians and volunteers, according to the website of OTB.

In 2014, the year in Kharkiv Mykola Shlapak was among the first volunteers who collected humanitarian aid and distributed it to internally displaced persons.

In November 2015 in Kharkiv started “the Museum of the ATO OTB eyes”, which opened at the initiative of the journalists of the TV channel OTB (NTU branch) and volunteers. The establishment of the Museum volunteers did the journalists of broadcasting company Mykola Shlapak and Eugene Uchatsnikov.
