Pujdeme decided not to declare the elections in Catalonia

The speech of the leader of Catalonia Carles Pokdemon still held. He said that he refused from the intentions to call early elections in Catalonia, according to DW.

According to Pokdemon, the possibility of elections was considered but later was rejected because he had not received “adequate assurances” that the intentions of the Central government to introduce direct rule in the region will be suspended.

Catalonia’s President has accused Madrid of hindering reconciliation. He also added that the local Parliament after October 26 will decide how to respond to the Central government of Spain.

We will remind, today Pujdeme had to call early elections in Catalonia to break the deadlock in relations with Madrid. However, he later canceled his speech, which was supposed to announce a decision about the election.
