43-metre wooden Goethe tower burned tonight in the German Frankfurt am main.

This is reported by the European media, citing Frankfurter Rundschau.

Message about the fire came at about 3:15 local time. The place was strapped a large force of rescuers, however, by the time the fire completely engulfed the structure.

Save the clock tower has not been possible, and all I could do to fire — block the square on which it stands, and to prevent the spread of flames to nearby structures.

Built in 1931, the tower was considered not only one of the main attractions of the city and the best in this viewpoint, but was the highest wooden structure in Germany.
