The may 2 Odessa Prosecutor’s office filed an appeal

The Prosecutor filed an appeal against the acquittal of Ilyichevsky city court, which acquitted 19 defendants in the case about mass riots in Odessa on 2 may 2014. This reports the press service of the Prosecutor General.

“According to the Prosecutor, the sentence is not based on law and is subject to cancellation in connection with discrepancy of conclusions of court to actual circumstances”, – said the Prosecutor’s office, stressing that the court committed significant violations of criminal procedural norms.

In particular, the court did not examine adequately the evidence, says the prosecution.

The acquittal was handed down on September 18. The next day the two defendants in the case, Sergey Dolzhenkov and Eugene Nefedova again taken into custody.
