Russia was able to influence U.S. elections through advertising on Facebook

The social network found about 470 of fake accounts, which for the period from June 2015 to may 2017 bought for $100 thousand, around three thousand ads.

Stamos noted that the page was probably running from Russia. They did not have direct political advertising, but raised the problem of migrants, the rights to own guns, the LGBT community.
Facebook reported it to the authorities and ready to cooperate.
The FBI suspected Russia in spreading fake news on the day of presidential elections in the US before through social networks.
