The head of coorganization detained on suspicion in extortion

The head of the Ukrainian public organization the Bureau of environmental protection and health was detained on suspicion of extortion. About it reports a press-service of Prosecutor’s office of Kiev region.

According to law enforcement authorities, the detainee allegedly demanded from businesses weekly to pay him a certain amount of money depending on the “amount produced by the enterprise products.” According to preliminary calculations, “tribute” was about 200 thousand UAH per month, according to the Prosecutor’s office.

What kind of the production in question, the office did not specify.

“In addition, the head of public organization in case of refusal to pay him money threatened to injure and destroy the property of the enterprise”, – said the Prosecutor’s office.

The activist was allegedly detained at the time of transfer he is 34 thousand UAH. Now the issue of the communication to the detainee about suspicion, and election to it measures of restraint. He could face from three to seven years in prison.
