“Rally against cynicism”: in Kharkov demanded to deprive the Russian Senator of the title “honorary citizen” published by the frames

Today, February 22, under the walls of the Kharkiv city Council held a “rally against cynicism”, which gathered a few dozen activists. Their requirement was deprived of the title of “honorary citizen of Kharkov” Russian Alexander Shishkin.

Mr. Shishkin is a Senator of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and a current member of the Committee on defense and security of Russia. In addition, in 2014, he supported the occupation of Crimea.

Despite the fact that Shishkin included in the sanctions list of Ukraine and is actually a persona non grata, he’s still with the light hand of the mayor Gennady Kernes, to whom the picketers also expressed their outrage and distrust, is an honorary citizen of the city. Kharkiv residents demand to cancel the decision and to deprive the Senator of the Russian Federation of this title.

Activists also performed the Ukrainian national Anthem and observed a minute of silence for the victims of the terrorist attack that occurred on 22 February 2015 during a peaceful March near the Palace of sports.
