Foreign Minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze believes the visit of the foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in the occupied Abkhazia, with the aim of opening the Embassy, an attempt to create the illusion of legitimacy. “With this visit, Russia has tried to demonstrate that it can maintain the occupation regime, the de facto authorities in the occupied territory, and thus strengthen their international position. This, of course, an illusion. We know that the international community adheres to its obligations is the result of our extensive experience and policies we are pursuing,” said M. Janelidze.
