Haley called for the investigation of torture of homosexuals in Chechnya

If reports are true, these human rights violations cannot be ignored, she said.
“The Chechen authorities should immediately investigate these allegations, to bring those responsible to justice and take measures to prevent abuse in the future,” said Haley.
“We oppose all forms of discrimination, including on grounds of sexual orientation,” she said, adding that these violations can lead to destabilization and conflicts.
On 2 April it was reportedthat, according to media reports, in Chechnya there are mass detentions of suspects in sexual orientation. At that time it was known about the detention of more than a hundred men. What is happening in Chechnya condemned the US state Department.
On 15 April, UN experts on human rights also called on Chechen authorities to immediately release all the men who were detained due to suspicions of homosexuality, and also to stop the persecution and oppression of sexual minorities in this Republic of the Russian Federation.
