Dead poet A. Volokhonsky

KIEV. April 9. UNN. The poet Henri Volokhonsky, the author of the poem “Paradise” ( “Above the blue sky is a Golden city…”), died in the eighty-second year of life. He died in his sleep on Saturday, April 8. About this UNN reports with reference to TASS.

Rock musician Boris Grebenshchikov said that A. Volokhonsky through his creativity will remain forever in the history of music.

“The man who wrote such a brilliant song, should remain in the history of Russian music forever. The best songs I’ve ever heard and did not sing anything”, – said Boris Grebenshchikov.

Anri Volokhonsky was born March 19, 1936 in Leningrad, graduated from the chemical-pharmaceutical Institute. In the late 1950s he began to write poems, songs and plays, were published in samizdat. Only one of his work was published in the USSR – bike “centaur” in the journal “Aurora” in 1972.

In 1973 he went to Israel after 12 years moved to the German Munich, where he worked as a news editor at “Radio Liberty”. Since 2004 A. Volokhonsky lived in the village of Rexingen near the town of Horb.

Peru’s poet owned a number of works from the ironic miniatures to poems in which the epic and mythological motives are subjected to the processing, combining irony to metaphysics. From the works of A. volkonskogo has become best known poem “Paradise,” set to music by Vladimir Vavilov and subsequently executed Alexei Khvostenko, and then Boris Grebenshikov in the film “AssA”.
