The U.S. government recently stepped up pressure on the European contractors of building of the pipeline “Nord stream – 2” and threatening them “far-reaching” consequences in case of continuation of cooperation with the project, reports TASS.
According to the German newspaper Die Welt, the American side held two video conferences with contractors of the gas pipeline from Germany and other European countries to “to indicate the far-reaching consequences for their further participation in the project”. From the United States participated in a total of 12 officials from three ministries: state Department, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of energy.
As has told to the newspaper sources, U.S. officials “made it very clear that they want to prevent the completion of the construction of “Nord stream – 2”.

The house of representatives of the U.S. Congress on Tuesday approved a draft defense budget for the next fiscal year (begins in the country from October 1), which obliges the administration to tighten sanctions against the gas pipeline “Nord stream – 2” and “Turkish stream”.
