General Director of the Petersburg football club “Zenit” Alexander Medvedev admitted that he was upset with the departure of defender Igor Smolnikov in “Krasnodar”.

“I’m honestly upset that our proposal he did not accept. But, on the other hand, if he has a best offer, then we wish him success in the “Krasnodar”. He wants to play, I think he is ready for competition. Zenit tried hard to continue his career in “Zenith” — quoted Medvedev RIA Novosti.
He also said a player such qualities as dedication and devotion to football.
31-year-old Smolnikov moved to Zenit from FC Krasnodar in 2013 and played for the blue-white-blue until the end of season 2019/20, and then left the team as a free agent in connection with the contract completion date. Last season he played in 18 matches in all competitions, he scored one goal and made two assists.
