Walker: continuation of Putin’s power – it is rather a sign of weakness, not strength

KIEV. July 26. UNN. The sequel to power of Vladimir Putin in Russia to 2036 means rather a sign of weakness, not strength. This was stated by the special representative of the US State Department on Ukraine (2017-2019) Kurt Volker in an interview with creem.Realities, reports UNN.

“I don’t think that (use of force de-occupation of Crimea – ed.) is a good idea. I believe that the operation will be destructive for people’s lives and their property. Russia has a very powerful military force. All this would lead to a conflict beyond Crimea, in other parts of Ukraine, even in other parts of Europe,” said Volker.

According to him, there is no good option of a military takeover of the Crimea.

“I think, instead, we constantly and continuously must put pressure on Russia. And, frankly, we have to be patient. Russia will sooner or later change. Putinism and the continuation of his power until 2036 is more a sign of weakness, not strength. I think that Russia will change over time. We must keep the pressure and be ready for these changes,” said Walker.

To the question, and when Russia will change, Walker said, “It is impossible to predict. However, we see a weak system, we see weak political leader. The observed decline of the economy and infrastructure, the reduction of the population. It is a force that has a lot of resources but all these resources they will eventually lose”.

We will remind, in Russia came into force amendments to the Constitution that allow you to “reset” the timing of Putin.
