Abdul Majed, one of the killers of the first President of Bangladesh Mujibur Rahman, were executed in the night from Saturday to Sunday, reports TASS with reference to the Agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Of Majid was hanged after the reading of the verdict, which was issued in 1998. The body was immediately given to the family for burial.

Officers who participated in the military coup, which killed Rahman, was sentenced to death in 1998. Five of them were executed in 2010, three were acquitted, and the rest are hiding abroad.

Held various posts after the coup, Majed was forced to leave the country in 1996 after the Prime Minister of Bangladesh was Sheikh Hasina wajed, daughter of the first President reopened the investigation into the murder of his family.

6 April of this year it became known about the arrest of Majed after 24 years search. He was hiding outside the country, but in March returned. A counter-terrorism unit detained him in the city of Mirpur. On 7 April the judge confirmed the sentence.

Majed filed a clemency petition to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wajed. On 10 April, the petition was dismissed.
