Media: Britain has concealed the crimes of its military in Iraq and Afghanistan – the shooting of civilians, torture, murder, rape

Ministry of Defence

The command of the British army concealed the crimes of British soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. It follows from the documents that during the joint investigation got the Sunday Times and Panorama BBC TV.

According to the findings, British commanders falsified documents to hide the murder committed by a soldier of a special squad of SAS, as well as torture, beatings, and sexual abuse of prisoners, the responsibility for carrying Scottish infantry battalion Black Watch.

Among the detected crimes – the shooting of a soldier of special forces of Afghan citizens who drank at home tea. The case involved the military Prosecutor’s office, however, neither the ordinary nor his commanders did not suffer any responsibility. As pointed out by one of participants of investigation, the UK Ministry of defence tried to close uncomfortable things to prevent their transmission to the Prosecutor or to the international criminal court.

The Sunday Times indicates that the results of the investigation may affect the consideration of the initiative of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has promised to protect British soldiers from prosecution. In particular, it was about the creation of laws, which are the most difficult criminal cases for crimes the soldiers committed over a decade ago. These include including the torture of prisoners in prison of the Iraqi city of Basra in 2003 and the killing of an Iraqi policeman by a British soldier that took place in the same year.

In the latter case, the innocent soldier, who allegedly opened fire in response to the actions of the police was confirmed by the witness later stated that he was not present during the incident, and only heard one shot. This calls into question the official version according to which the police opened fire first.
